By accessing our websites, creating an account, purchasing or enrolling in a program, scheduling a consultation, or otherwise using our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not purchase or use our programs or services.

2. Educational and Wellness Purposes
Unless expressly stated otherwise, information provided by Root-Cause Wellness and Root-Cause Wellness Academy is intended for educational and wellness purposes only.
Our educational programs and services are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition and are not a substitute for individualized medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment from a qualified healthcare professional.
Information provided through courses, consultations, coaching sessions, emails, handouts, videos, workbooks, websites, or other resources should not be interpreted as medical advice.
Always consult an appropriate healthcare professional regarding medical symptoms, diagnoses, medications, treatment decisions, laboratory findings, or other medical concerns.
If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or seek appropriate emergency medical care.
3. Health and Wellness Coaching
Health and wellness coaching is a collaborative process designed to support individuals in identifying personal goals, exploring opportunities for change, developing strategies, increasing self-awareness, and building sustainable health-related behaviors.
Health coaching itself does not constitute medical care, medical diagnosis, psychotherapy, or medical treatment.
When services are provided specifically in the capacity of health and wellness coaching, services will be provided within the applicable professional scope of that role.
Where a practitioner holds additional education, training, or professional credentials, certain services may be offered separately within the scope permitted by those qualifications and applicable law.
4. Nutrition and Supplement Consultations
Root-Cause Wellness may offer nutrition and supplement education and consultations within the practitioner's applicable education, training, credentials, and legally permitted scope of practice.
These services are intended to provide education and wellness support and are not a substitute for medical nutrition therapy, medical diagnosis, or treatment by an appropriately licensed healthcare professional.
Information may include discussion of nutrition, dietary patterns, foods, lifestyle practices, nutraceuticals, dietary supplements, herbs, or other wellness strategies when appropriate to the service being provided.
You should discuss significant dietary changes, supplements, herbs, or nutraceuticals with your physician, pharmacist, or other qualified healthcare professional, particularly if you:
- Have a diagnosed or suspected medical condition;
- Take prescription or over-the-counter medications;
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding;
- Are preparing for surgery;
- Have allergies or known sensitivities; or
- Are receiving treatment from another healthcare professional.
You should never discontinue, reduce, increase, or otherwise alter a prescribed medication or medical treatment based solely upon information provided by Root-Cause Wellness.
5. No Doctor-Patient Relationship
Use of our websites, educational materials, programs, courses, or general communications does not establish a physician-patient or other licensed medical-provider relationship. Root-Cause Wellness does not represent that health coaching or educational services constitute medical practice. If you require medical evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment, you should seek care from an appropriately licensed healthcare professional.6. Individual Results
Every individual is different, and health and wellness outcomes vary.
We do not guarantee that participation in any course, program, consultation, or coaching service will produce a particular health, weight, laboratory, symptom, wellness, professional, or other outcome.
Results may depend on numerous factors, including individual health history, genetics, environment, medical conditions, medications, lifestyle, participation, consistency, implementation, and circumstances outside our control.
Testimonials, client experiences, examples, case studies, or descriptions of potential benefits are provided for informational purposes and do not guarantee that you will experience the same or similar results.
7. Root-Cause Wellness Academy
Root-Cause Wellness Academy is an educational brand operated by Root-Cause Health Coaching LLC.
Academy offerings may include self-paced programs, digital courses, workshops, group education, professional education, health coach training, continuing education, and other educational resources.
Unless expressly stated otherwise for a particular program, participation in a Root-Cause Wellness Academy course does not provide medical licensure or authorization to diagnose, treat, prescribe for, or otherwise practice medicine or another regulated healthcare profession.
Participants are responsible for using the information provided in a manner consistent with their own credentials, professional scope, and applicable laws.
8. Functional Medicine Health Coach Training
Root-Cause Wellness Academy anticipates offering a Functional Medicine Health Coach Training Program beginning in or after 2027.
Information provided before the program's official launch—including anticipated curriculum, program length, launch dates, accreditation, approval, certification, faculty, tuition, eligibility, or other program features—is preliminary and subject to change.
Unless and until Root-Cause Wellness Academy expressly states otherwise after receiving formal approval, prospective students should not assume that the program is approved by the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) or that completion establishes eligibility to sit for the NBC-HWC examination.
Any applicable accreditation, approval, examination eligibility, or certification information will be clearly communicated in official enrollment materials.
Completion of any Root-Cause Wellness Academy program does not guarantee employment, income, business success, professional licensure, third-party certification, or authorization to provide services regulated by federal, state, local, or international law.
9. Professional Scope and Student Responsibility
Students enrolled in professional education or health coach training are responsible for understanding and complying with the laws, regulations, professional standards, credentialing requirements, and scope-of-practice requirements applicable to the location in which they intend to work.
Laws and regulations concerning health coaching, nutrition counseling, supplements, healthcare services, and related activities vary by jurisdiction and may change.
Root-Cause Wellness Academy does not guarantee that completion of a course or training program will authorize a graduate to perform any particular service in every state, country, or jurisdiction.
10. Purchases and Payments
All prices are displayed at the time of purchase and are subject to change for future purchases.
By purchasing a program or service, you authorize Root-Cause Health Coaching LLC and/or its authorized payment processor to charge the payment method you provide for the stated purchase price, including applicable taxes or agreed payment-plan installments.
If you select a payment plan, you agree to make all payments according to the payment schedule presented at checkout.
A payment plan represents an installment arrangement for the purchase price and is not necessarily a month-to-month subscription unless expressly identified as such.
Failure to make required payments may result in suspension or termination of access to programs or services, subject to applicable law and the terms presented at purchase.
11. Refunds, Cancellations, and Rescheduling
Refund and cancellation policies may differ among digital programs, consultations, coaching packages, professional training programs, memberships, and other services.
The refund or cancellation policy displayed on the applicable sales page, registration page, checkout page, client agreement, or enrollment agreement at the time of purchase will govern that purchase.
Because digital educational materials may be made available immediately following purchase, eligibility for refunds on digital products may be limited as disclosed at checkout.
Failure to access, use, or complete a purchased digital program does not, by itself, create a right to a refund.
Private appointments may be subject to separate cancellation, late-cancellation, no-show, and rescheduling policies communicated during booking or in a client agreement.
12. Digital Program Access
Access periods vary by program and will be identified where applicable on the relevant sales or enrollment page.
Purchasing a digital program provides access only to the individual purchaser unless expressly stated otherwise.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your username, password, and account.
You may not share, transfer, sell, sublicense, or otherwise provide another individual with access to your account or purchased program.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe an account or program materials are being shared, copied, distributed, resold, or otherwise used in violation of these Terms.
13. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise expressly stated, original materials provided through Root-Cause Wellness and Root-Cause Wellness Academy—including but not limited to written content, curriculum, videos, audio recordings, presentations, graphics, workbooks, worksheets, assessments, frameworks, downloads, handouts, course materials, emails, and educational resources—are owned by or lawfully licensed to Root-Cause Health Coaching LLC and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
Purchasing or enrolling in a program provides you with a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the materials for their intended personal or educational purpose.
Unless you receive prior written authorization, you may not:
- Copy or substantially reproduce our materials;
- Distribute or publicly display course materials;
- Share course materials with individuals who have not purchased or enrolled in the program;
- Upload materials to shared drives, websites, databases, course platforms, AI repositories, or similar systems;
- Sell, license, sublicense, or commercially distribute materials;
- Record or redistribute live classes, presentations, or other protected content;
- Share account or login credentials;
- Remove copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices; or
- Create or sell a competing course or commercial product by substantially reproducing our proprietary curriculum or materials.
Students in professional training programs may apply knowledge and skills learned through the program in their own lawful professional work. Enrollment does not transfer ownership of Root-Cause Wellness Academy curriculum, instructional materials, or other intellectual property.
14. Third-Party Resources, Products, and Services
Our websites, programs, or services may reference or link to third-party products, supplements, laboratories, books, websites, software, practitioners, healthcare providers, or other resources.
References to third parties do not constitute guarantees regarding their products, services, accuracy, safety, availability, effectiveness, or outcomes.
Third-party websites and services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices.
Root-Cause Wellness is not responsible for the content, policies, availability, or actions of independent third parties.
15. Affiliate Relationships
From time to time, Root-Cause Wellness may recommend products or services through affiliate or referral relationships.
This means Root-Cause Health Coaching LLC may receive compensation, a commission, referral fee, discount, credit, or other benefit if you make a purchase through certain links or recommendations.
Where required, such relationships will be appropriately disclosed.
Affiliate relationships do not change the price you pay unless expressly stated.
16. Supplements and Nutraceuticals
Dietary supplements, herbs, and nutraceuticals may have physiological effects and may interact with medications, medical conditions, procedures, or other supplements.
You are responsible for informing your healthcare professionals about supplements and other products you use.
Statements regarding dietary supplements have not necessarily been evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Supplements are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease unless specifically approved for such use by the appropriate regulatory authority.
Any decision to purchase or use a supplement discussed through Root-Cause Wellness should take into account your individual circumstances and appropriate professional guidance.
17. Functional and Laboratory Testing
Where educational discussion or consultation concerning laboratory or functional testing is offered, such information does not replace medical evaluation or diagnosis.
Testing may have limitations, and laboratory findings should be interpreted in appropriate clinical context.
When medical interpretation, diagnosis, or treatment is required, you should consult an appropriately licensed healthcare professional.
Availability of particular tests may vary based upon jurisdiction, practitioner relationships, laboratory requirements, and applicable law.
18. No Guarantees
While Root-Cause Wellness strives to provide high-quality, evidence-informed education and services, we do not guarantee any particular:
- Health or symptom outcome;
- Weight or body-composition change;
- Laboratory result;
- Prevention of disease;
- Professional credential;
- Certification by an independent organization;
- Employment opportunity;
- Business or financial result; or
- Other specific result.
You are responsible for your participation, decisions, implementation, and use of information provided.
19. Technology and Availability
We make reasonable efforts to maintain reliable access to our websites, member areas, and digital programs. However, uninterrupted or error-free access cannot be guaranteed.
Temporary interruptions may result from website maintenance, hosting services, software updates, third-party platforms, internet disruptions, payment processors, cybersecurity events, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We may update or replace technology used to deliver our programs when reasonably necessary while seeking to preserve the essential nature of the purchased service.
20. Community and Group Conduct
Programs may include communities, group sessions, discussion areas, live classes, forums, or other interactive features.
Participants agree to communicate respectfully and protect the privacy of other participants.
You may not disclose another participant's personal information, health information, stories, photographs, recordings, comments, or other private information outside the program without that person's permission.
Harassment, threats, discriminatory conduct, unauthorized solicitation, illegal activity, intentional disruption, or other inappropriate conduct may result in removal from a community or program.
Removal for violation of these Terms does not automatically entitle a participant to a refund.
21. Privacy
Our collection, use, and handling of personal information are governed by our Privacy Policy, which should be reviewed together with these Terms.
Please do not submit sensitive personal or health information through unsecured communication channels unless specifically instructed to do so.
Participation in a coaching or consultation relationship may also be governed by additional privacy, confidentiality, and informed-consent provisions contained in the applicable client agreement.
22. Testimonials, Reviews, and Case Examples
Testimonials, reviews, case examples, and participant experiences represent the experiences or opinions of the individuals involved.
They are not guarantees that another individual will experience the same or similar results.
Where case examples are used for educational purposes, identifying information may be changed or omitted where appropriate to protect privacy.
23. Personal Responsibility and Assumption of Risk
You remain responsible for your own health decisions and actions.
By participating in our programs or services, you acknowledge that general educational information cannot account for every individual's medical history, medications, allergies, diagnoses, contraindications, physical limitations, or personal circumstances.
You agree to use reasonable judgment, seek appropriate professional healthcare when necessary, and take responsibility for decisions you make regarding your health and participation.
Participation in exercise, dietary changes, fasting, supplementation, or other wellness practices may involve risks depending upon your individual health circumstances. Consult an appropriate healthcare professional before beginning practices that may be unsuitable for you.
24. Minors
Our programs and services are intended for adults unless a particular service expressly states otherwise.
Individuals under 18 may not independently purchase or participate in services intended for adults.
Services involving a minor require appropriate parent or legal guardian consent and may be subject to additional terms.
25. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Root-Cause Health Coaching LLC and its owners, employees, contractors, instructors, representatives, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or relating to your use of our websites, programs, services, or materials.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
26. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Root-Cause Health Coaching LLC and its owners, employees, contractors, instructors, representatives, and agents from claims, damages, liabilities, losses, or reasonable expenses arising from your unlawful use of our services, violation of these Terms, infringement of another person's rights, or unauthorized copying, distribution, or commercial use of our materials.
27. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable federal law or consumer-protection law requires otherwise.
Additional dispute-resolution provisions may apply to private coaching, consultations, professional training, or other services under a separately executed client or enrollment agreement.
28. Changes to Programs
Root-Cause Wellness may periodically update programs, lessons, materials, instructors, resources, technology, or program structure to maintain or improve our offerings.
Reasonable modifications may be made without notice when they do not materially alter the essential service purchased.
For professional training programs, curriculum and requirements may also change to reflect evolving professional standards, evidence, laws, or credentialing requirements.
29. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, business practices, technology, professional standards, or applicable law.
The current version will be posted on our website with the applicable “Last Updated” date.
Where required by law, material changes will be communicated appropriately.
30. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is determined to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.
31. No Waiver
Failure by Root-Cause Health Coaching LLC to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision or our right to enforce it in the future.
32. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our applicable Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, Client Agreement, Informed Consent, Enrollment Agreement, program-specific terms, and other agreements expressly incorporated into a purchase, constitute the applicable agreement between you and Root-Cause Health Coaching LLC regarding the relevant services.
If a separately executed agreement conflicts with these general Terms, the more specific agreement will govern with respect to the subject addressed by that agreement.
